Luke Littler is already eyeing up defending the World Cup of Darts after he and Luke Humphries won for England on Sunday.
Just one year after the duo’s shock early exit in Frankfurt, the world’s top two darts players romped to the title.
Question marks were raised as to whether the good friends – and fierce rivals – could perform together after the 8-4 defeat to hosts Germany in 2025.
But they lived up to their billing as tournament favourites as they eased to a 10-5 final victory over the Netherlands’ pair of Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen.
Attention has already turned to whether Littler and Humphries are ready to team up for a third time and defend their title – something that hasn’t been done since Holland’s back-to-back championships in 2017 and 2018.
The answer? An emphatic yes
Speaking in the post-match press conference about whether he will be returning to Germany in 2027, Littler said: “100 per cent, there’s no point winning it and not coming back.
“I think the first game against Spain was just nailing the coffin for ourselves.
“We know we can score, finish and obviously win together.
“We will be back next year.”
As for Humphries, he was quick to stress he is looking to emulate Phil Taylor and Adrian Taylor’s legendary partnership, which saw the duo win a record four World Cups together.
He remarked: “I’ll be back for the next ten years.
