In a dramatic escalation of the simmering tensions within professional darts, PDC Chairman Eddie Hearn has issued a stark ultimatum: all players implicated in the so-called “Gerwyn Price Files” will be identified and held accountable.
Speaking at a hastily arranged press conference at the PDC’s London headquarters, Hearn described the files—a leaked collection of internal messages, financial records, and whistleblower testimony—as “a direct threat to the integrity of the sport.” Without detailing the full contents, Hearn confirmed that the documents contain allegations involving “a significant number” of tour card holders, ranging from match manipulation to undisclosed conflicts of interest.
“Let me be absolutely clear,” Hearn said, flanked by PDC legal advisors. “We will fish out every single player whose name appears in those files. Nobody—whether you’re a world champion, a top-16 seed, or a developmental tour player—is above the rules of this organization. If you have betrayed the trust of the fans, your fellow competitors, or the sport itself, we will find you.”
The “Gerwyn Price Files” first emerged on anonymous social media accounts last week, purportedly leaked from a disgruntled former PDC security contractor. The files are named after 2021 World Champion Gerwyn Price, not because he is the primary subject, but because the earliest documents referenced a private 2022 dispute between Price and an unnamed official regarding betting patterns around his matches. Since then, the dossier has grown to include allegations against a wider circle.
Price, who has not been formally accused of any wrongdoing in the files, released a brief statement through his manager: “I have cooperated fully with the PDC integrity unit. My name has been dragged through the mud by association only. I welcome the Chairman’s investigation.”
Hearn emphasized that the PDC has already launched a joint probe with the Gambling Commission and an independent forensic data firm. “We are not talking about rumors or bar-room gossip,” Hearn added. “These files contain timestamps, transactions, and communication threads. Our legal team has already identified several individuals. The others will be ‘fished out’—and I use that term deliberately—because this is a cleanup operation, plain and simple.”
