Liverpool could be heading into a major goalkeeping shake-up, with Alisson Becker facing an uncertain future — and David de Gea emerging as a surprise replacement option.
Reports suggest Alisson has been linked with a return to Italy, nearly a decade after leaving AS Roma to join Liverpool FC. The club has already extended his contract until 2027, but interest from Juventus FC has fueled speculation.
Juventus are believed to be willing to meet Liverpool’s asking price of around €15 million. However, a deal looks complicated due to Alisson’s high wages, which could exceed what the Italian club is prepared to pay.
Because of this, Juventus may turn their attention to De Gea, who is currently at ACF Fiorentina. The former Manchester United FC goalkeeper could be available for a lower fee and significantly reduced salary, making him a more practical option.
Despite the rumors, Alisson’s move to Italy is far from certain. His representatives have reportedly held talks with multiple clubs, but there is hesitation around the transfer — particularly due to financial factors.
Meanwhile, the Brazilian has previously hinted that he wants to return to his boyhood club Sport Club Internacional at some stage, though he insists he still wants to compete at the highest level before making that move.
On the pitch, Liverpool are currently dealing with a goalkeeping crisis. Alisson is injured and expected to miss the upcoming clash with Crystal Palace FC. Backup keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili is also sidelined, leaving third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman likely to step in.
With uncertainty surrounding their No.1 and limited options available, Liverpool may soon be forced into a big decision — one that could see a familiar Premier League name return to the spotlight.
