The Darts Regulation Authority (DRA) has confirmed that teenage sensation Luke Littler will be subject to an immediate anti-doping test following his stunning victory in the Premier League Darts final on Thursday night.
The 17-year-old, who clinched the title with a clinical 11-7 win over world champion Luke Humphries at The O2 Arena, was flagged for a mandatory out-of-competition test as part of the DRA’s standard post-final protocols.
A DRA spokesperson emphasized that the test is routine for all major winners and not triggered by any suspicion of foul play. “All title winners in PDC-sanctioned events are subject to random drug testing under our WADA-compliant code,” the spokesperson said. “Mr. Littler has been cooperative and the sample will be processed in the usual manner.”
Littler, who broke multiple records with his Premier League win—including becoming the youngest-ever champion—dismissed any controversy. “Let them test me all they want. I’ve got nothing to hide. The only thing I’ve been on is a heavy diet of practice and kebabs,” he joked in the post-match press conference.
The test will screen for a range of prohibited substances, including stimulants, anabolic agents, and beta-blockers—the latter a known but banned aid in precision sports to steady nerves. Littler’s meteoric rise has already prompted the DRA to increase the frequency of tests for young players breaking through at elite level.
Results of the test are expected within 72 hours. If cleared, Littler will cap off a dream debut Premier League season that saw him finish top of the league phase before defeating Humphries and Michael van Gerwen en route to the final.
The DRA confirmed that any breach would result in an immediate suspension, though no such action has been taken. Littler remains eligible for next week’s Players Championship event in Leicester.
