Celtics star Jaylen Brown called out ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith once again following Smith’s criticism after Boston’s playoff exit, accusing the analyst of crossing the line and using players’ names to benefit himself.
The feud between Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown and ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith continues, with the NBA All-Star once again taking aim at Smith after he criticized him following the Celtics’ first-round playoff exit against the Philadelphia 76ers.
During a recent Twitch stream, Brown called out Smith directly, making it clear that he believes the ESPN personality has crossed the line from analysis into performative criticism.
“It ain’t your job to be a clown. It ain’t,” Brown stated. “And this whole playing the game, this delusion that y’all got, that y’all running with. That y’all making it seem like I’m playing the game, I’m pulling the ladder down.”
“y’all not doing nothing but helping your motherf*cking selves. And I’m tired of that sh*t.” That’s why people are calling that sh*t out.” That’s why people, I came to that conclusion.”
“And I’ll tell Stephen A. and whoever else when I see them, when they see me in person, I will let you know that it is f*ck Stephen A, Stephen B, Stephen C, directly to your face,” he added.
This isn’t the first time that Smith and Brown have gone against each other. Infamously, in 2024, Smith cited an anonymous NBA source claiming Brown was “not liked” due to a “better than you” attitude.
As a response and a way to celebrate being the Finals MVP, Brown famously wore a “State Your Source” T-shirt during the Celtics’ 2024 championship parade to troll Smith.
The two eventually sat down in Smith’s podcast and intriguingly discussed the matter.
