Commercial Director Adrian Filby is quitting Celtic for Aston Villa.
Filby has been in his current post for 15 years during which time Celtic have switched kit from Nike to New Balance and onto the current kit deal with Adidas which is entering its final 12 months.
During his time at Celtic, the short sponsor has either been a gambling or alcohol company.
Filby spent six and a half years with the Daily Record before moving to Celtic having previously held a job with the hoops as Special Projects Manager.
At lunchtime today Glasgow World reported:
Celtic FC Commercial Director Adrian Filby is set to quit the Parkhead club to take up the same position with English Premier League side Aston Villa, GlasgowWorld can exclusively reveal.
The experienced backroom figure has been with the Hoops since 2008 in a second spell at Celtic Park, having previously worked as a Special Projects manager between 1997 and 2002 before leaving for a role in the Scottish media industry.
The University of Strathclyde graduate, who is also a qualified chartered accountant, departs after just short of 16 years in his second spell with the club.
Taking charge of Commercial activities at Celtic should attract many top candidates with much of the club’s potential still untapped.
The next kit deal will be one of the biggest that the club will be involved in with CEO Michael Nicholson likely to be leading the process.
On the pitch, there are obvious limitations to what Celtic can achieve but commercially there are fewer restrictions with a worldwide fanbase backed by a unique strip that taps into the Irish diaspora.
