Cheltenham Town has agreed to sign experienced centre forward Ryan Bowman on a one-year contract, Gloucestershire Live understands.
The 32-year-old has spent the last three seasons in League One with Shrewsbury Town, for whom he scored the winner against Cheltenham on the opening day of last term.
He has also previously played for Exeter City, Motherwell, Gateshead, Torquay United, York City, Hereford United, Darlington and hometown club Carlisle United.
The 6ft 2in frontman scored a League Two brace for York against Cheltenham in 2013/14.
Bowman has 150 goals to his name in more than 550 career appearances.
He very nearly joined Cheltenham in the summer of 2021, before signing for Shrewsbury.
He is now poised to become the Robins’ 12th new signing of the summer after his former Hereford teammates Harry Pell, Scot Bennett, Ryan Haynes, Luke Young, Arkell Jude-Boyd, Joe Day, Owen Evans, Liam Dulson, Ethon Archer, Harrison Sohna and Lewis Payne.
Bowman also played with Robins assistant manager Aaron Downes and summer signing Young during his time at Torquay.
A young Robins XI were beaten 3-0 at Hungerford Town on Tuesday night, with the first team back in action at home to Bristol City on Friday (7.45 pm).
Michael Flynn’s side then play Northampton Town on Saturday, August 3, a week before the new League Two season starts with a home match against Newport County AFC.
