Pittsburgh Steelers Thank Thomas Tull for Donating Five Buses: “A Way for Easy Transportation of the Future”
PITTSBURGH — In a heartfelt gesture that blends philanthropy with team pride, former Legendary Entertainment CEO and Pittsburgh Steelers part-owner Thomas Tull has donated five state-of-the-art buses to the Pittsburgh Steelers organization. The gift, described by team executives as “transformational,” has been lauded as a significant step toward improving transportation logistics and enhancing the overall experience for players, staff, and the community.
The team officially announced the donation during a press conference at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, where Steelers President Art Rooney II expressed deep gratitude to Tull for his unwavering commitment to the franchise.
“These buses represent more than just a means of transportation,” Rooney said. “They are a testament to Thomas Tull’s belief in this organization, in this city, and in the people who work hard every day to bring success to the Steelers brand. We’re incredibly thankful for his continued generosity and vision.”
Innovation Meets Purpose

The five custom buses, built by Prevost and equipped with cutting-edge technology, were specifically designed to meet the needs of a modern NFL team. Each vehicle features spacious seating, onboard Wi-Fi, video conferencing capabilities, rest areas, and advanced climate control — all tailored for comfort and efficiency.
Tull, a longtime supporter of Pittsburgh and a well-known advocate for technological innovation, called the donation a “natural way to support the team I love while solving a real logistical challenge.”
“When you think about what teams go through during the season — traveling to training camps, community events, and games — reliable transportation becomes a big deal,” Tull said. “I saw an opportunity to step in and provide something practical. This isn’t just about getting from point A to point B. It’s about giving players and staff an easier, more comfortable way to do their jobs and represent the Steelers on the road.”
A Personal Touch
Though Tull stepped down from his role at Legendary Entertainment in 2017, he has maintained a strong presence in the Pittsburgh community through philanthropic efforts and his ownership stake in the Steelers. His affinity for the city, its culture, and its football team remains clear.
“I’ve always said that Pittsburgh is a city with a soul,” Tull noted. “The Steelers are a reflection of that — hardworking, resilient, and loyal. Supporting them in this way is my way of giving back to a team and a city that have given me so much.”

Team members echoed that sentiment, with several players taking to social media to thank Tull personally. Veteran defensive lineman Cam Heyward posted, “These new buses are next level! Big thanks to Thomas Tull for always having our backs. Can’t wait to hit the road in style.”
A Broader Impact
The donation also includes provisions for community engagement. When not in use by the team, two of the buses will be made available for youth outreach programs, school visits, and other Steelers-backed community initiatives throughout the Pittsburgh area.
Mike Tomlin, the Steelers’ longtime head coach, highlighted the broader impact of the buses during the press event.
“It’s a win-win,” Tomlin said. “Not only do these buses help us in terms of logistics and comfort, but they’ll also serve as a resource for the community. Getting our guys into local neighborhoods, to schools and camps — this makes that easier. We’re thankful to Thomas for thinking bigger than just the team.”
A New Era of Travel
The buses, painted in the iconic black and gold and emblazoned with the Steelers logo, have already begun service, transporting rookies and veterans alike to and from training camp sessions. They will also be used throughout the regular season for shorter regional trips, team bonding events, and media appearances.
For an NFL franchise steeped in tradition, the move signals a step toward modernization while staying true to its core values of loyalty, family, and excellence.
“Transportation might not be the flashiest part of a football team’s operations, but it’s crucial,” said Omar Khan, Steelers General Manager. “What Thomas has done is elevate that part of our infrastructure in a way that reflects professionalism and care. We’re incredibly grateful.”

Looking Ahead
As the Steelers prepare for another competitive season, Tull’s generous donation is already paying dividends — not just in miles traveled, but in morale boosted and connections strengthened.
Rooney summed it up best: “Thomas Tull has always been more than just an owner or a fan. He’s family. And with this gift, he’s made it easier for our Steelers family to do what we do best — show up, compete, and represent Pittsburgh with pride.”
