The Aston Villa midfielder is allegedly likely to join Everton. Everton are reportedly closing close on the signing of Aston Villa midfielder Tim Iroegbunam. According to Football Insider, the 20-year-old is set to join Everton for a fee of around £10 million. Iroegbunam progressed through Villa’s youth divisions but struggled to earn first-team minutes. He has appeared 18 matches for Unai Emery’s side, making only five starts. The England under-20 international played the 2022-23 season on loan at Championship club QPR, where he appeared often and scored twice in 32 games. However, despite qualifying for the Champions League, Villa is experiencing profit and sustainability concerns.
Meanwhile, Ashley Young has claimed that he is about to pledge his future to Everton. The senior 38-year-old is out of contract but has been offered a new contract, and he told talkSPORT that he is close to signing. He stated: “We’re close to everything being resolved.”There have been discussions over the summer. It’s just a matter of finalizing the specifics, and then I’ll sign the deal.” Young joined Everton on a free transfer from Aston Villa last summer and played 34 games, scoring one, in the 2023-24 season. He played both full-back and more advanced roles on occasion.
