HITC understands that Fulham are prepared to sell one key player this summer who remains of interest to Bayern Munich.
Last summer, Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich were keen on adding a defensive midfield signing to their ranks to try and cover for the loss of Ryan Gravenberch, who joined Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
Fulham star Joao Palhinha was the Bavarian’s main target and a move could be reignited this summer with HITC understanding that the West London club would be open to selling the Portuguese star during the off-season.
Palhinha is set to feature heavily for Portugal during the European Championships in Germany this summer.
Bayern make contact
Sources have confirmed to HITC that Bayern Munich, who were pipped to the Bundesliga title by Bayer Leverkusen, have made contact with the Premier League club.
Palhinha almost joined Bayern on deadline day in the summer of 2023 but the deal fell through on the final day of the window.
Palhinha then signed a new deal at Fulham, but HITC understands that there was an understanding between the two parties that they would allow him to leave in the future if an acceptable deal arrived.
Joshua Kimmich’s future in Bavaria is uncertain with HITC previously reporting that Manchester City and Barcelona were interested in the German midfielder so a replacement could well be sought after.
Fulham’s demand
HITC can confirm that lines of communication between Bayern and Fulham have now been reopened with Vincent Kompany’s side approaching.
The deal won’t be a cheap one for Bayern with the Portuguese midfielder still having four years left on his contract at Craven Cottage.
We understand that the two clubs will need to hammer out a deal once again, but Fulham wants a deal worth at least £ 50 million – given he has only recently put pen to paper on a new deal in West London.
Palhinha will be hoping to excel at this summer’s European Championship with a move to Bayern potentially on his radar.
